The Key Laboratory of Mineral Resources, Chinese Academy of Sciences (KLMR) was established in April 2002. She focuses on the national resource strategic demand and the world scientific frontiers. The KLMR aims to carry out the following fields in northern China surrounding area: 1) investigating the geodynamic setting of metallogenic belt; 2) develop the accurate geochronology; 3) descripting the process of the hydrothermal-mineralization process; 4) determining the original mineralization depth and storage conditions; 5) ascertaining the ore-controlling factors and indicators; 6) establishing the deep resource prediction theory; 7) promoting the strategic selection and prediction of mineral resources; 8) integrating self-develop geophysical exploration technologies including electromagnetic imaging and shallow earthquakes; 9) exploring new alternative resources by carrying out experiments, demonstrations and promotion; and 10) providing theoretical guidance, technical and decision-making support for the national resource security system.

　　In order to encourage both domestic and foreign scholars to carry out innovative research on mineral resources, the KLMR continues to set up the open research fund. We sincerely invite domestic and foreign researchers to conduct cooperative research. The KLMR will preferentially support the applications of original innovation research and give priority to the applications of outstanding doctoral and postdoctoral subjects under the same conditions. The approved funds should be strictly implemented in accordance with the management of the use of the funds of the Institute of Geology and Geophysics and the Key Laboratory, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and are mainly used for experiment, analysis, paper publication, and patent application.

　　Each project can be supported ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 RMB with the duration of one to two years. The applicant should fill in the application form of “The Open Research Project Application Form” (please refer to the attachment for details) and send both duplicate hardcopies and electronic edition to the KLMR. The application will begin on December 10, 2017 and the deadline is on December 30, 2017. Once the project is approved, the applicant should fill in the research plan and execute according to the approved plan. Before the completion, it is required to submit the final report, financial expenditure statement and result (paper) materials to the KLMR. If the project can not be completed on time, the person in charge of the project should inform us by writing a report about the reason and the expected time for completion. The maximum extented period is no more than six months.

　　The acheivement of the project belongs to the Key Laboratory of Mineral Resources, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, which should be marked as the first or second position as following when publish papers or apply for patents:
